Hot Tub Volume Calculator

How to Calculate Your Hot Tub Volume

Having a hot tub at home is a luxurious addition that can provide hours of relaxation and enjoyment. However, before you can fully enjoy your hot tub, you need to understand its water capacity. This is essential for several reasons, including:

  1. Ensuring proper water treatment and chemical balance
  2. Estimating the cost of filling and maintaining the hot tub
  3. Determining if your deck or patio can support the weight of the filled hot tub

To make this process easier, we’ve developed a handy Hot Tub Volume Calculator. In this blog post, we’ll guide you through using this tool to accurately calculate the volume of your hot tub.

Understanding the Formulas

The Hot Tub Volume Calculator uses different formulas depending on the shape of your hot tub. Here are the formulas used:

ShapeFormula
Square/RectangularVolume (in gallons) = Length (in inches) × Width (in inches) × Average Depth (in inches) × 7.5 ÷ 1728
RoundVolume (in gallons) = (Radius (in inches) × Radius (in inches) × Average Depth (in inches) × 3.14) ÷ 231
OvalVolume (in gallons) = Length (in inches) × Width (in inches) × Average Depth (in inches) × 5.9 ÷ 1728

Note: If your hot tub has sloped sides, you need to multiply the calculated volume by 0.85 to account for the reduced volume.

Using the Calculator

Follow these steps to use the Hot Tub Volume Calculator:

  1. Select the Shape of Your Hot Tub: Choose from the options of Square/Rectangular, Round, or Oval.
  2. Enter the Dimensions: Based on the selected shape, you’ll be prompted to enter the required dimensions (length, width, depth, or radius).
